2009 Skate Canada: Alberta-NWT/Nunavut AGM

What is the Section AGM

The Section AGM is an annual event, which consists of the annual general meeting, elections for the Section Board of Directors, the Achievement Awards Dinner and interactive workshops and clinics.

Who attends the Section AGM

Everyone can attend the AGM. The Section AGM is designed to reach out to everybody: skaters, officials, coaches, volunteers, parents, club members and executives.

Why should a member of your Club Executive attend the Section AGM

Being in attendance at the Section AGM allows your club to have a direct voice in the Section Board of Directors elections. The workshops and clinics are designed to provide clubs with knowledge in various areas. Have an opportunity to interact with the Section Board of Directors and various Section committee chairs and, of course, the interaction with other club members from around the Section is invaluable.

Clubs can plan ahead and have the option to organize the expense within their club budget. The club will benefit from the information that will be brought back to the club from attending the AGM.

How do skaters, officials, coaches, volunteers, parents and club members benefit from the AGM

The goal of the workshops and clinics for the 2008 Section AGM is to reach out to all types of our membership and the information provided will be valuable in all areas of skating. Workshops and clinics will be announced in the upcoming months.

What is the Achievement Awards Dinner

The achievement awards dinner is an evening where Section members are honored and recognized in many ways. The evening consists of:

  • National and International medalists within the Section

  • Skate Canada Section Award recipients are announced and recognized

  • Bursary recipients are announced and recognized

  • The Alberta Figure Skating Foundation presents their triple/quad gold awards

  • The achievements of the Section’s volunteers, coaches and officials are recognized

Why should you go

Take back ideas to your club, become motivated for the upcoming season, reflect on the past year, have a vote in the elections, interact, network and meet new members from around the Section.
