Q: Are skaters allowed to "skate up" in STARSkate events?
A: Yes in any discipline in STARSkate events skaters are allowed to "skate up" categories. Interpretive has a required minimum standard of having passed Introductory Interpretive test.

 

Q: I have not yet passed Introductory Interpretive but would like to compete at the next competition. 
A: Skaters must have passed at least their Introductory Interpretive to compete at the closing date of that competition.

 

Q: If a skater has competed in Pre-Novice Freeskate event at sectionals are they eligible to compete at any STARSate event?
A: A Pre-Novice Skater that competed at Sectionals are eligible to compete in any STARSate event except for the Freeskate event.   

Q: Can a skater that competes in Novice or higher at Sectionals compete at STARSkate?
A: Yes, the are able to skate in STARSkate Competitions for Team events and similar Pairs events only.  
 
Q:  My Junior Bronze skater is capable of landing a double loop double loop combination jump.  Is she allowed to use it in her program.
A:  No, you may not repeat the double jump in the Jr Bonze Category in competition.
 
Q:  I have a Pre-Prelim Freeskater that can not do spirals on the left foot.  Can she do both spirals on her right foot?
A:  No, Sequence of two forward spirals: Two forward spirals, one executed on each foot. Spirals must be in an unassisted position. Spirals must be separated by no more than four steps not including the step taken onto the skating foot of the second spiral. A step in this case applies to any time a change of foot takes place, e.g. Mohawk = 2 steps, 3-turn = 1 step, crosscut = 2 steps). A spiral position must be achieved with the free leg (including knee and foot) above the hip on both feet to be counted.
 
Q:  I have a skater that is taking her Sr.Silver Freeskate test during a competition where she is registered in the Juvenile category .  Will she be penalized for the time violation?
A:  If the skater is taking the Senior Silver test in a Juvenile competitive event category they may test with the Juvenile program time (no penalty will be applied for the time discrepancy)and only the program portion will be required for the full test certificate (Part 1: elements, not required). If the skater is taking the test in a STARSkate category, they must use the Sr. Silver program time and a separate evaluator must be on-site to evaluate the test using the traditional test sheet.  Only Part 2: Free Program will be awarded and the skater will have to take the elements portion to achieve the full test certificate.
