Coaches wishing to become PrimarySTARSkate Certified do not have to become CanSkate Certified and can jump to the homestudy. Please refer to the Flow Chart for an explanation.

CanSkate Certification Policy

Course Requirements:

•           Observe three CanSkate sessions with a mentor coach
•           Complete the observation diary pages
•           Develop a CanSkate group lesson plan and relevant Emergency Action Plan (EAP)
•           Teach the group lesson plan in front of your mentor coach
•           Outline a CanSkate session on paper: create a 45 or 60 minute CanSkate session
•           detailing information on the four main parts – warm‐up, group lesson, group
•           activities and cool‐down
